I grew up in a very rich family. We had no money but still felt like we had the world in each other.
My parents eventually took better jobs and moved us into a better city with better schools. Our family’s focus shifted to monetary things and while we gained more money we slowly became more poor.
I took the approach of “the 99%” all through high school. I believed in socialism and John Lennon. I also failed a lot and got into drugs and alcohol pretty heavy.
When I was a senior I dropped out of high school to escape what now looked like an ultimately doomed future. I spent 6 months re-configuring myself and set out to do whatever it took to make a better future for myself and eventual family.
I clawed my way into the computer industry and began gaining experience. When I could get no further I started my own business. Once I had built a respectable resume I began working with some of the greatest people in the industry.
On Tuesday, Nov.1 2011 at the age of 24. A high school drop out with absolutely no college education I will be starting a Software Engineer position at a major Video Game development studio.
